Working lunch

Ryvita lunch packs

Today I have been running around the house (I keep writing ‘flat’, then having to delete it!) doing a mixture of blogging stuff, laundry stuff, shopping stuff (beans, milk etc – nothing exciting) and staring vacantly into space as I try to work out how I should tackle my post-holiday heaving inbox of 1273 emails. Unread. *Sob*

On days like this I can forget to eat. And then 4pm comes around, my blood sugar is ridiculously low and I end up destroying a packet of Jaffacakes without even blinking.

While I was in Greece, I reduced my sugar intake dramatically. I’m not including fruit juices and bread in this…and I definitely had the odd ice cream… but in general, the amount of sugar I was consuming was far lower than it has been over the last few months. And I have vowed to keep it that way.

Lunch time is always the meal that trips me up, as I’m often on the go and nowhere near a fridge or kitchen. If I’m ill prepared I’ll reach for any old thing… so my new favourite lunchtime heroes are the new Ryvita lunch packs, which come in all kinds of flavours and are packaged up in portions of four, so you can throw them in your bag (they easily fit in my handbag) and not end up eating a boring soggy sandwich when your tummy starts grumbling.

Today I wandered down to my local shop and stocked up on some organic cottage cheese (look how creamy!) olive tapenade, fresh tomatoes and some parsley… and created for myself the perfect, sugar free, nutrient high, vitamin packed, healthy, lunchtime snack. I chose the Cracked Black Pepper Ryvita flavour, and it complemented all the ingredients perfectly.

Rye is one of those magical ingredients, that you know is really good for you… but you didn’t know why. Allow me to elaborate just a little… rye is rich in magnesium (great for your muscles)and also in zinc, which is the magic wand for healthy bones, hair, nails and skin. There are loads more benefits to be had and I can feel my inner glow already 😉

This is the perfect on-the-go lunch for me and these lunch packs now sit proudly in my handbag next to my other essentials – lipstick, wet wipes and phone battery.

And camera. Obvs.

This post was shot on my LEICA D-LUX – dinky but dynamic 😉

This post was sponsored by Ryvita and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
