The way Alabama is staring at her cake, is exactly how her mum Anoushka and I stared at ours when we first arrived at Pearl & Groove on Portobello Road – with total, unadulterated love.
I met these two lovely ladies at Pearl & Groove for a coffee (or in Alabama’s case, a long glass of water on the rocks) some delicious cake and a chat about Anoushka’s exciting news – her upcoming book launch…
Everything but everything at Pearl & Groove is gluten free and many of the cakes are sugar and dairy free too. However the absence of these ingredients have by no means removed any of the gorgeousness or style – on the contrary, the cakes at Pearl & Groove are some of the most glorious and pretty I’ve ever seen…
As Anoushka and I chattered away about her new book ‘The Good Enough Mother’ and enjoyed the street life of Portobello Road, Alabama devoured her chocolate and blueberry cake with gusto… and Anoushka could relax in the knowledge that her little one wouldn’t be running around like a crazy thing afterwards, as it was completely free of sugar.
The cakes were delicious and had the weather not been as glorious as it was, we would have holed up inside with the art and the hula hoops 🙂
We all went home a little happier than when we’d arrived… and now that I know Pearl & Groove are on Deliveroo too, this could get dangerous…
